98th & Lyndale Streetscape Project
Oxboro Streetscape Project:
Construction on the Oxboro Streetscape project along 98th Street and Lyndale Avenue is scheduled to begin soon. The project area is along 98th Street from Aldrich Avenue to Grand Avenue and Lyndale Avenue from 99th Street to 95th Street.
The main components of this project include:
• Removal and replacement of street lights upgrading them to LED.
• Removal of trees and tree grates and reinstallation of planting beds with trees and perennials in the same location.
• Replacing concrete panels disturbed during the removals.
• Structural soil was eliminated from the project due to budget and utility conflicts.
The construction is planned to begin in August with planned completion by November 2019.
The project was awarded to JL Theis Inc. of Jordan MN. The planned sequence of work starts with street light removal along the whole project and is expected to begin Monday, August 12. Next will be tree removal the week of August 19 followed with demolition of tree grates and adjacent concrete panels. New street lights and concrete will go back in immediately while planting will take place at the end of the project.
To maintain pedestrian access, work will be confined to one side of the road until the pavement is complete and opened back up. It may be necessary to have some lane closures during non-rush hours, but all driveways will remain open during the construction. Transit bus riders will be redirected if sidewalk work obstructs access to bus stops.
Weekly updates during construction can be found on the Major Construction Projects website: www.blm.mn/streetscape.
