2018-201 East Bloomington Freeway Corridor Reconstruction

Project

The scope of this project includes reconstruction of the East Bloomington Freeway from W. 106th Street to W. 99th Street and the construction of a sidewalk along the eastside.  The road would remain as a one way at a reduced width to accommodate construction of a sidewalk.  Work in the area will continue to be coordinated with MnDOT and Metro Transit Projects on W. 106th Street and W. 99th Street.

November 2020

November 13, 2020

East Bloomington Freeway (W. 106th Street to W. 99th Street)
Grading of the trail and ditch areas will continue the week of November 16.  Due to inclement weather and lower temperatures, the paving of the trail and final restoration will be postponed to the Spring of 2021.  A letter will be sent to the affected property owners. 

November 6, 2020

East Bloomington Freeway (W. 106th Street to W. 99th Street)
Paving of the road was completed early the week of November 2 and was reopened to local traffic. Grading of the trail and ditch areas will continue the week of November 9.
 

October 2020

October 30, 2020

2018-201 East Bloomington Freeway Improvement Project
Fine grading of the aggregate road base was completed late the week of October 26 and will be followed by paving of the asphalt pavement early the week of November 2.  Grading of the trail section will continue into the week of November 2.

October 23, 2020

2018-201 East Bloomington Freeway Improvement Project
Concrete work was completed late the week of October 19, following clean up of the site following the snowfall.  Paving of the base layer of asphalt is tentatively scheduled late the week of October 26.

October 16, 2020

2018-201 East Bloomington Freeway Improvement Project
Excavation and grading of the road section has been completed and was followed by installation of concrete curb and gutter late the week of October 12.  Installation of concrete work is scheduled to continue into the week of October 19 and will be followed by fine grading of the aggregate rock base and paving of the initial layer of asphalt. 

October 9, 2020

2018-201 East Bloomington Freeway Improvement Project
Utility work for hydrant relocations and storm sewer installations were completed the week of October 5 and will be followed by excavation and grading of the road base and trail area. Grading work will be followed by installation of concrete curb and gutter the week of October 12.  Striping of the ramp area was completed the week of October 5 and the on-ramp to northbound 35W was reopened.

October 2, 2020

2018-201 East Bloomington Freeway Improvement Project
Assessment informational meetings  were held on Tuesday, September 29, at 5:30 PM at Tarnhill Park and on Thursday, October 1 at Moir Park.  The public hearing to order the assessments is scheduled for Monday, October 5, at City Council.

Relocation of fire hydrants and storm sewer utilities continued through the week of September 28 and will be followed by excavation and grading of the road and trail area.  Fine grading of the aggregate road base for on-ramp area was completed early in the week and was followed by paving of the asphalt surface.  Striping of the asphalt surface for the ramp area is scheduled for the week of October 5.

September 2020

September 25, 2020

East Bloomington Freeway Improvement Project (W. 106th Street to W. 99th Street)
Installation of water utilities was completed the week of September 21 and will be followed by relocations of hydrants and installation of storm sewer utilities.   Concrete work for the ramp area was completed late the week of September 21 and will be followed by fine grading and paving of the ramp area late the week of September 28. 

September 11, 2020

East Bloomington Freeway Improvement Project (W. 106th Street to W. 99th Street)
Reclamation work was completed early the week of September 7 and was followed by construction of temporary access.  Excavation of the ramp area will continue into the week of September 14 in conjunction with water main installation in the area.   The on ramp to northbound 35 W remains closed.
