Meet Community Outreach and Engagement staff: Emily Larson

The Community Outreach and Engagement Division (COED) was created as a result of restructuring the former Human Services Division in late 2018. The new work group has been focused on being leaders in equity and inclusion, developing new methods of outreach and engagement, and offering events and programs that make connections in the community.

Community Outreach and Engagement Coordinator Emily Larson has been with the City for six years and previously worked in Human Services. In her new role, Larson coordinates programs, including Pathways to Local Government, the Bloomington Leadership program, the staff facilitation network and the City’s volunteer management program.

“What I like about this role is that it’s all about how we can strengthen the community by building relationships and connecting people,” Larson said. “I’d say that’s our specialty.”

She also serves as the staff liaison for the Community Services Department, Fire Department and City Administration.
