Hennepin County grant for local businesses impacted by COVID-19

The Hennepin County Board has allocated $8 million of economic support to local businesses suffering business interruptions due to COVID-19. Starting Monday, businesses impacted by COVID-19 can apply for additional relief.

Grants up to $15,000 will be available to bars,  restaurants, fitness venues, entertainment venues and event venues that meet these criteria:

  • Are locally owned and operated.
  • Have a physical establishment in Hennepin County.
  • Have 100 or fewer employees.
  • Have $6 million in annual revenues or less.
  • Have a COVID-19 plan.

If your business aligns with these guidelines, please visit this Hennepin County page to learn more and apply

The new restrictions recently announced by Governor Walz and the Minnesota Department of Health, including limiting bars and restaurants to takeout-only for four weeks, are difficult. Hennepin County is offering this support as COVID-19 infections continue to rise and public health measures are likely to further impact bars and restaurants.

Since June, Hennepin County has given out more than $22 million in Small Business Relief grants in response to the economic impacts of COVID-19.
