The Creekside Community Center quilting and needlework groups socialize and craft to help keep people warm.

“It’s a good feeling to know that what we are making is going to someone in need and will help keep them warm,” Barb Even, Creekside Needleworkers senior volunteer leader.

Meeting Thursday mornings, the Creekside Needleworkers make and donate mittens, hats, scarves and other items to local charities, including Bloomington Public Schools and Sharing and Caring Hands. So far this year, the group has donated more than 4,000 items.

Meeting Tuesday and Friday mornings, the Creekside Quilters make and donate more than 400 quilts annually to local organizations including Cornerstone and the VA Hospital.

Yarn and quilting fabric donations are welcomed at the Creekside office at 9801 Penn Avenue South.
