The Morris Leatherman Company conducted a randomized survey of Bloomington businesses over the summer. Responses were anonymous and aggregated for analysis and reporting. An exceptionally high 92% of those surveyed rated the business climate in Bloomington as excellent or good. The business owners and managers who responded gave an approval rating of “excellent or good” to the City’s attitude and responsiveness to local businesses.
Eighty-four percent of respondents felt the consideration of a public-private business incubator was a good idea. A business incubator would assist startups and existing businesses with resources for funding, workshops, one-on-one technical assistance and more. An overwhelming 99% of those surveyed said the City should focus on retaining and growing existing businesses, while 87% also said invest in redevelopment.
