City Council consents to extension of local emergency

The City Council approved Ordinance 2020-8 at its April 6 meeting. This Ordinance shall be in effect until June 30, 2020, unless rescinded earlier by resolution of the City Council.

The extension of the emergency declaration does not affect decisions about stay-at-home orders or business closures. These are made at the state level.

On March 16, the City Council consented to a local emergency declaration, effective for a 30-day period, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The declaration formally authorizes the City to implement its emergency operations plan which describes the basic strategies through which the City mobilizes resources and conducts activities to guide and support our local emergency management efforts.
