Godspell, one of the most produced musicals of all time, is playing at Artistry through August 13. This 2012 revised version of Stephen Schwartz’s (Wicked, Pippin, Children of Eden) musical offers a masterful retelling of the original show with new arrangements of beloved favorites.

Godspell is a series of parables, primarily based on the Gospel of Matthew, with music from traditional hymns. Hear, and maybe sing along with, traditional hymns, such as: “Prepare Ye,” “Turn Back, O Man,” “By My Side,” “Day By Day” and
“Beautiful City.”

Vanessa Brooke Agnes, one of the directors who brought Songs for a New World to Artistry, returns to direct this touching and haunting story of kindness, love and community. Godspell stars John Jamison II as Jesus. Jamison also portrayed Joseph in Artistry’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
